The best players in the National Ice Hockey League are to be recognised with the announcement of divisional Player of the Month awards.
This coming weekend is the final weekend for the September awards, with the inaugural winners announced early next week.  The players will receive their awards at their first home game after the announcement.
An NIHL spokesman said: “As a league we are always looking for ways to improve and try to promote our clubs, the league and the sport.
“The Player of the Month awards will recognise the players who in the panel’s opinion show the highest standards of play and conduct across the month.

Jason Stone re-joins the Fire management and full management announced for 2017/18

Cardiff Fire are delighted to announce that Cardiff and British hockey legend Jason Stone has re-joined the Fire management and will coach the NIHL2 development team with Gareth Dixon while also helping the NIHL 1 team. Jason is also involved in the Cardiff junior programme.

Cardiff born ‘Stoney’ holds the record for the number of games played for the Cardiff Devils and has iced in 1069 senior games with 90% of those games coming in the highest level of British Hockey. Stoney also has the honour of having his number 10 jersey retired by the Cardiff Devils.

Cardiff Fire NIHL 2 announce squad for 2017/18 season

Cardiff Fire are delighted to announce the NIHL 2 (development) squad for the 20/17/18 season. Cardiff Fire’s NIHL 2 team will be playing in the 3rd tier of British hockey, 1 tier above what Cardiff Fire played inlets season due to the league re-structure. The purpose of the NIHL 2 team is development of young players and to offer a competitive and exciting brand of hockey. Fire have taken a whole host of players from the Cardiff junior system with the hope of developing them to 2nd tier players and beyond.

Fire have retained a number of experienced players from last seasons title winning team to aid with this development and grow the club.
