Cardiff Fire form partnership with Xtreme edges and bring in Sam Motton as power skating coach

Cardiff Fire have successful secured a partnership with Xtreme Edges. Sam Motton director and head coach of of Xtreme Edges has agreed to join Cardiff Fire for the 2017/18 season. Sam, a former player, current coach and Elite League linesman has been developing Extreme Edges for the last 2 years.

Sam’s background is quite impressive. During his junior playing days he was selected for South West conference, he has a background in figure and speed skating with over 25 years experience. Sam made the move into the stripes and has been a EIHA registered linesman for 16 years, during this time Sam made the jump up to the highest level in this country lining games in the Elite League and has been in the top tier for 7 years...

Former Devil Sam Smith back for more with Cardiff Fire!

Cardiff Fire are delighted to announce the return of 6’3” forward Sam Smith.

Sam’s Career has seen him moving from juniors in Cardiff to North America where he joined the Okanagan Rockets in the BCMML in Canada. In his 2nd season there Sam finished top scorer in the academy with 57 points in 52 games. The following season Sam headed to the US to play for the Dubuque Thunderbirds of the CSHL junior league.

In 2010 Sam made his return from North America and signed his first pro contract in the UK with the Cardiff Devils. That season the Cardiff Devils broke the Guinness world record for the number of wins in a row. Sam played on the 3rd line scoring an impressive 36 points in 58 games. Sam also represented GB U20’s that season and also made the long squad for the GB men’s senior team...

NIHL South Division 2 format now confirmed

NIHL South Division 2 format now confirmed

There will be a single 14-team Division 2 in NIHL South for the 17/18
season, the League Management Committee can confirm today.

Solent Devils request to join NIHL 2 was accepted by the member clubs,
while both Chelmsford and Oxford are amalgamating their operations
into a single NIHL2 team.

The teams will play each other once at home and once away for a 26
game regular season.

NIHL South Division 2 will consist of the following teams:

·         Basingstoke Buffalo

·         Bristol Pitbulls

·         Bracknell Hornets

·         Cardiff Fire 2

·         Chelmsford

·         Guildford Phoenix

·         Haringey

·         Invicta Mustangs

·         Lee Valley Lions

The League Management Committee (LMC) of NIHL South can today confirm
that Division 1 South will run in 17/18 with the following nine clubs:
Bracknell Bees
Basingstoke Bison
Cardiff Fire
Invicta Dynamos
London Raiders
Milton Keynes Thunder
Peterborough Phantoms
Streatham IHC
Swindon Wildcats

The teams will play each other twice at home and twice away for a 32
game League season.  The top eight sides will qualify for the post
season under the format previously announced.

An NIHL S1 Cup competition will also be operating and details will be
confirmed very soon.

Work is continuing with clubs to resolve the structure for NIHL 2
South and details will be announced as soon as the discussions have
been concluded.
