NIHL South Division 2 format now confirmed

There will be a single 14-team Division 2 in NIHL South for the 17/18
season, the League Management Committee can confirm today.

Solent Devils request to join NIHL 2 was accepted by the member clubs,
while both Chelmsford and Oxford are amalgamating their operations
into a single NIHL2 team.

The teams will play each other once at home and once away for a 26
game regular season.

NIHL South Division 2 will consist of the following teams:

·         Basingstoke Buffalo

·         Bristol Pitbulls

·         Bracknell Hornets

·         Cardiff Fire 2

·         Chelmsford

·         Guildford Phoenix

·         Haringey

·         Invicta Mustangs

·         Lee Valley Lions

NIHL SOUTH D1 CONFIRMED; D2 WORK ONGOING


The League Management Committee (LMC) of NIHL South can today confirm
that Division 1 South will run in 17/18 with the following nine clubs:
Bracknell Bees
Basingstoke Bison
Cardiff Fire
Invicta Dynamos
London Raiders
Milton Keynes Thunder
Peterborough Phantoms
Streatham IHC
Swindon Wildcats

The teams will play each other twice at home and twice away for a 32
game League season.  The top eight sides will qualify for the post
season under the format previously announced.

An NIHL S1 Cup competition will also be operating and details will be
confirmed very soon.

Work is continuing with clubs to resolve the structure for NIHL 2
South and details will be announced as soon as the discussions have
been concluded.

NIHL confirm playoff weekend will crown National Champions
The League Management Committee of National Ice Hockey League (NIHL) are delighted to confirm that there will be a National Playoff Championship weekend at the end of the 17/18 season.
Over the last two weekends the South and North clubs have met to agree membership of their leagues and playing format for the regular season.
The LMC can now confirm that the playoffs will take place over a four week period at the end of the regular season, culminating in a Playoff Weekend at a central venue.
In both NIHL North and South D1 the top eight teams will qualify for the playoffs.  The first three rounds will be regionalised to achieve a North and South playoff champion.

NIHL SOUTH CONFERENCES NAMED TO HONOUR WILKINSON, BRITTON
The member clubs of National Ice Hockey League (NIHL) South have voted unanimously to name their new Division 1 conferences after two stalwarts of the EIHA, Premier League and National League.
In the structure published on Sunday night, the conference containing Basingstoke Bison, Bracknell Bees, Cardiff Fire, MK Thunder, Oxford City Stars and Solent Devils will be named The Wilkinson Conference after Bob Wilkinson who died earlier this year.
The conference which features Chelmsford Chieftains, Invicta Dynamos, London Raiders, Peterborough Phantoms, Streatham IHC and Swindon Wildcats will be named The Britton Conference in memory of the late Bill Britton.
