British hockey legend returns home! Nicky Chinn signs for the Fire

Cardiff Fire are delighted to announce that Nicky Chinn has agreed to join Cardiff Fire for the 2017-18 season. 
‘Chinny’ started his career in Cardiff playing for the Devils professionally as a 16-year-old in the early formation years of the Cardiff Devils, playing eight games in BD1.
The following season Devils were promoted the top league in the UK and as a 17-year-old Chinny played 16 times for the club, scoring his first goal in pro hockey.
‘Chinny’ became a household name in British Ice hockey over the next year, known for a great skill set matched with huge toughness. Still a teenager, he scored 23 goals in 34 games, ended the season with 37 points and represented GB at under-20.

Devils confirm Fire affiliation and 2 way players

THE CARDIFF DEVILS ARE PLEASED TO CONFIRM AN AFFILIATION WITH THE CARDIFF FIRE ICE HOCKEY CLUB.

The Cardiff Fire operate the Cardiff based teams in the National League Division 1 & 2. The affiliation will see players from the Fire training with the Devils and potentially playing games with the big club. Devils season ticket holders will get a £2 discount off tickets for all Fire Games just by presenting their season ticket card.

Canadian Former Devil Mark Smith joins the Fire as assistant coach 

Former Cardiff Devils defensive hero joins the Cardiff Fire as NIHL 1 assistant coach for the 2017/18 season.

Mark Smith joined the Devils in 2010 via the Edinburgh Capitals.  Prior to coming to the UK Mark came through the Alberta Junior hockey league playing in 238 games scoring 116 points before joining the University of Alaska in the NCAA, the top college league in North America. Mark spent 4 years in the NCAA playing 129 times scoring 47 points.

Following his junior/College career Mark signed in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) for Charlotte Checkers and CHL’s Rocky Mountain Rage. In 2009 he made the move to the UK firstly with the Edinburgh Capitals then onto the Cardiff Devils and Coventry Blaze in the Elite League...

‘The Dead Puck’ Joe Myers returns for 17/18

‘The dead puck’ Joe Myers has agreed to return to the Fire line up for the 17/18 season. Cardiff born Myers will start his 3rd season with the Cardiff Fire following a long spell with the Cardiff Devils.

29 year old Myers joined the Fire in the formation season and has been an outstanding member of the team, sharing net minding duties with Luke Takel. In Joe’s first season with the Fire he finished with a 93% save average and last season finished with an even better 94% save average. Joe’s experience in the game cant be questioned having spent 8 years in the Elite league with the Cardiff Devils and the Breahead Clan, including spells in the EPL with London Raiders and Slough Jets.
