NIHL CONFIRM KEY DATES FOR NEW SEASON INCLUDING PLANS FOR PLAYOFF WEEKENDS IN ALL DIVISIONS
The National League Management Group (NLMG) are excited to announce the major dates for the forthcoming season, including the return of the NIHL Championship Series featuring no fewer than five Playoff Weekends.

League bosses have been working on the calendar for the last couple of weeks following input from clubs at the section meetings and the outcome is the schedule outlined below.

The regular season in NIHL 1 and NIHL 2 begins on Saturday September 7, while NIHL National faces off for their inaugural campaign on Saturday September 21.

In NIHL National the teams will wear light colours at home until December 21 when they will swap and wear their dark colours at home...

Fire to compete in the new NIHL D1 for the 2019/20 season

Cardiff Fire have accepted a position in the new D1 structure for the 2019/20 season. The new league will consist of three teams from last seasons D1 Invicta Dynamos, Streatham and Milton Keynes. The remaining teams will be Cardiff Fire, Slough Jets, Bracknell Hornets, Romford Raiders 2, Solent Devils, Oxford Stars and Chelmsford Chieftains. Making a ten team league. 

The new league structure is a result of the formation of the new National League, a league consisting of another 10 teams from the North and South, replacing the old EPL. 

NIHL 2 is also continuing to grow with the addition of some development teams to join the remaining teams from last seasons D2. Cardiff Fire are also exploring the chance of adding what will be a predominantly U23 team to the new D2 set up...

Fire make a coaching change

The Cardiff Fire have made the decision to part ways with player-coach Chris Douglas.  The netminder was brought in this past summer to take the helm, but the Fire have made the decision to move in another direction.  The Fire would like to thank Chris for his service during the season and wish him every success with his future endeavours.  Chris wont be leaving Cardiff as he  looks to take up a roll with Cardiff Juniors.

Returning to the bench will be current Director of Player Development Mark Smith.  The former NCAA and Elite League Defenceman will bring nearly a decade of professional Ice Hockey experience with him and looks to instil a strong work ethic and culture of accountability within the team. Phil Manny will continue as assistant coach and will work closely with the manag...

Hard hitting Swedish defenceman Viktor Langseth signs for the Fire

Cardiff Fire have signed Swedish defenceman Viktor Langseth for 2018/19. The hard hitting tough defenceman grew up playing hockey Gnesta IK representing them in Division 2 under 18’s and Division 1 under 20’s. 

Viktor signed for the Fire’s division one team last season playing in 10 games. At only 22 Viktor is big strong defender that likes the physical side of the game.
