Fire make a coaching change

The Cardiff Fire have made the decision to part ways with player-coach Chris Douglas.  The netminder was brought in this past summer to take the helm, but the Fire have made the decision to move in another direction.  The Fire would like to thank Chris for his service during the season and wish him every success with his future endeavours.  Chris wont be leaving Cardiff as he  looks to take up a roll with Cardiff Juniors.

Hard hitting Swedish defenceman Viktor Langseth signs for the Fire

Cardiff Fire have signed Swedish defenceman Viktor Langseth for 2018/19. The hard hitting tough defenceman grew up playing hockey Gnesta IK representing them in Division 2 under 18’s and Division 1 under 20’s. 

Viktor signed for the Fire’s division one team last season playing in 10 games. At only 22 Viktor is big strong defender that likes the physical side of the game.

Fire add young players

Signing right out of under 18’s is Morgan Evans. Morgan was on a two-way with the Cardiff Fire and under 18’s last season. For the under 18’s Morgan recorded 37 points (including 24 goals) in just 11 games, in senior hockey Morgan recorded 8 assists in 18 games for the Fire’s division 2 team while stepping up on 4 occasions to play for Fire in the 2nd tier.

Cardiff Fire have also signed 3 young players on two way deals with the Cardiff under 18’s team. Both returning for the new season is GB international forward Carter Lloyd and Defencman Andre Norris. New to the Fire line up will be 16 year old goaltender Ben Scanlan.

Former Devil Hutchings returns

Former Cardiff Devils Elite League player Michael Hutchings is returning to Cardiff Fire for the 2018/19 season. 

‘Hutchy’ took time out from Hockey whilst paying in the Elite League for the Cardiff Devils to join the British Army where he served for 10 years. During his time away Hutchy played hockey for the British Army in the Uk and in Canada, additionally helping out the NIHL 1 team whilst on leave from the Army.

Last season Hutchy signed full time for Fire, starting the season in the Division 2 side before quickly stepping up to Division one and establishing himself as one of the top forwards on the team.
