Luke Piggott signs part time for Cardiff Fire

Cardiff Devils forward/coach Luke Piggott has signed a part time deal with the Cardiff Fire and will play games when the schedule allows.

Luke first played for the Cardiff NIHL/ENL team back in 2004 whilst still a junior player. Luke went on to have another 7 seasons with Cardiff NIHL/ENL scoring 207 points in 148 games (112+95) before joining the Elite League team full time in 2011. Since joining up with the Devils Luke has had a lot of success winning the Erhardt conference twice, EIHL cup twice and was part of the EIHL championship winning season last year.

This season Luke has made the step into coaching with the Devils and his experience around the team will be invaluable.

Mark Cuddihy added “Obviously we spoke to Luke in the summer to see what his plans were, Fire  was an option for him but I was delighted he got his chance to move into coaching, I know it’s something that he’s been talking about for a while. He’s still skating everyday with the Elite League team and skated with us last night and looked really sharp.

Even having him on a part time basis is great, there are some breaks in schedules that will allow Luke to play for us and right now we have so many injuries this break couldn’t have come at a better time for us. Luke will play in our home game against P’boro this Sunday the 1st Oct. I’m really pleased to have him with us”
