Cardiff Fire are delighted to announce that both young goalies James Whiting and GB U18 international Lewis Davies will be returning for the Fire for the 2018/19 season
Lewis Davies is entering his 2nd senior season after stepping up early from under 18’s hockey last season. Lewis had a great first season for Cardiff Fire playing in both the Division 1 and 2 teams. Lewis was selected to represent GB under 18’s in the D2 world championships. GB went on to win a gold medal winning 4 out of their 5 games, just tipping Lithuania to top spot. Lewis has a huge future in hockey and we are delighted the 18 year old is back with us for another season.
Completing the Goalie team is James Whiting. James has been part of the NIHL teams in Cardiff since he was 16 years old and at only 21 he already has a lot of experience at this level. James also played both Div 1 and 2 last season and finished the season very strong in the battle for a playoff spot. James was part of the original Cardiff Fire team and has won 2 titles since joining the club. James also had a strong junior career representing both South West conference and England teams.
Chris Douglass added ” I’m really glad that both goalies James and Lewis have agreed to sign on for the fire this season it’s good to have competition for places” having three capable goalies will be very beneficial to the squad and will hopefully push us all on to improve. I’m looking forward to working with these guys in training and games as I want to see both of them pushing for the number one spot. We have 28 games this season so there is plenty of ice time available. And both guys will get their opportunities to play”
Welcome back to the Fire Family Lewis and James
