Fire end 2015 undefeated with a 4-3 road win!

Cardiff Fire made the trip to Basingstoke for their final game of 2015 and what turned out to be the toughest so far. Fire missing 3 players, including new signing Haslam through injury took a full bench for the final game of 2015

Fire started exceptionally well and at 5:21 took the lead when Sedlak found an open Chris Deacon on the Blue line who fired a well placed shot from the point into the net to make it one nil to the Fire. Just a min and 40 secs later, Tim Burrows beat a Buffalo defenceman on the Fire blue line to break down the right hand side creating a two on one with Jordon Powell, a perfectly timed pass sent Jordon Powell in on net and deaked the Buffalo net minder. 2-0 to the Fire.  With Fire comfortable for the first 15 mins of the period. B’stoke got their first goal on 15:08 scored by Paul Petts, this was quickly followed at 17:04 with another Buffalo goal this time by Liam Coleman. Period ended 2-2

The second period was an end to end tight affair with Cardiff and Buffalo both having good shots. Cardiff just edging the shots for the period 15-12. However, it was the fire who took the lead at 30:17. James Manson at centre ice floated a backhand pass into the zone for Tim Burrows to skate onto, Burrows used incredible speed to break past the Buffalo defence to get on the end of the pass and finish superbly on the Buffalo keeper Lawday. End of 2nd period 3-2 to the Fire.

Fire started the 3rd period with a 5 on 3 penalty to kill, with Madge Manson and Seldak killing it off and giving Fire some momentum. Just 4 mins 33 seconds into the third period fire scored their 4th goal. This time it was the 2nd line. Madge found Dixon open on the point who fired low and Ricky Deacon was there to finish off the rebound, an important goal that sent Fire 4-2 ahead and that how the score stayed until the last min of the game. With 2 mins remaining Buffalo pulled Lawday form the net to send out the extra player and found their breakthrough with 41 seconds to go.  A tense final 40 seconds of the match but the Fire held off to win 4-3.

Fire end the season undefeated with 100% win record. Roll on 2016!
