Michael Hutchings joins Cardiff Fire 1 full time

Former Cardiff Devils Elite League player Michael Hutchings has stepped up to Cardiff Fire’s Division 1 team full time with immediate effect. ‘Hutchy’ took time out from Hockey whilst paying in the Elite League for the Cardiff Devils to join the British Army where he served for 10 years. During his time away Hutchy played hockey for the British Army in the Uk and in Canada, additionally helping out the NIHL 1 team whilst on leave from the Army.

The speedy winger (28) has played all his career in Cardiff and at age 18 signed a two-way contract between the National league team and the Elite League team, skating every day with the top team.

Fire Goalie Lewis Davies Makes Great Britain squad

Cardiff Fire goaltender Lewis Davies has been selected to play for GB under 18’s at the upcoming world championships in Tallinn, Estonia. GB are competing in Division 2 Group A and the tournament runs from 1st April to the 7th April 2018

GB will come up against Estonia, Australia, Lithuania and Poland.

Lewis joins Jordan Lawday as the 2nd Fire goaltender to be selected for the national team this season and all at Cardiff Fire would like to wish Lewis and team GB good luck for the upcoming world championships.

Cardiff Fire goalie Jordan Lawday makes Team GB

Cardiff Fire are delighted to share the news that teenage goalie Jordan Lawday has made team GB under 20’s for the upcoming world championships following a successful training camp in Sheffield.

The 2017 world championships will be held Dumfries from the 10th to 16th December. GB will face Estonia, Japan, Netherlands, Romania and Korea in Division 2 group A.

Jordan has been a revelation since joying the Fire last month and we know he will do himself and the club proud representing Great Britain.  We wish him and the rest of the team good luck in the coming world championships.

Fire sign GB player Jordan Lawday from North American team Ogden Mustangs

Cardiff fire are delighted to announce that 19 year old Jordan Lawday will sign for the remainder of the 2017/18 season.

Basingstoke goalie Jordan Lawday began his junior career with the Basingstoke junior club progressing on to the the NIHL team at the age of just 16, playing in 9 games with a 91.9% save percentage.  Lawday continued playing U18, U20 and NIHL with the Basingstoke club with all his stats being plus 90% earning himself a call-up to the GB U18 national team and playing in the world championships as starting net minder.

The following season (2016/17) Jordan Headed to the US to progress his hockey career signing for the Soo Indians U18’s in Michigan, again with stats north of 90% playing in 22 games for the American outfit...
