Cardiff Fire sign GB goalie Lewis Davies

Cardiff Fire are delighted to announce that promising teenager Lewis Davies will be joining the club on a two way between the Fire NIHL 1 and NIHL 2 teams.

17 year old Lewis has come through the Cardiff junior system and developed year upon year. He has been a regular within the South West conference systems and has represented England in the Quebec tournament. Lewis also has the honour of being selected for the GB National team at under 16 level and is currently attending trials for the GB under 18’s team.

Mark Cuddihy continued “We are really excited to get Lewis to commit to the club. He’s a real prospect and wants to test and push himself onto the next level. He practiced with us a few times last season and we were all impressed. I think he’s going to put pressure on our goalies and I would like to give him some time with our division one team this season. Working with Mike Brabon will be great for him and facing the shots he will be up against in practice will bring him onto that next level. He’s one to look out for, a real prospect”

Fire NIHL 2 head coach Gareth Dixon commented on todays two goalie signings “We have a strong history of producing good netminders in Cardiff and James and Lewis are no exception. Both have experience training at the Elite league level and have shown that they are capable of being reliable at this level. They have the desire to push through and challenge for a spot on the division 1 line-up and I have every confidence they will be knocking on the door very soon for their chance. We have secured a very solid foundation for the team and I hope we can give these guys the platform to develop and progress on to the next level.
